LAURIE ZUCKERMAN SHARES DIA DE LOS MUERTOS ALTAR PHOTOS FROM MEXICO

Laurie Zuckerman wishes you a wonderful Day of the Dead. Here is one of my favorite photos I took on my last trip to Oaxaca, Mexico—life-sized paper maché skeletons sitting on a wrought iron bench under a classic arch of marigold blossoms. Life AND death: it doesn't get any more magical and beautiful than this sidewalk altar.

My favorite Day of the Day ofrenda altar was photographed in Tlacolula, in Mexico's Oaxaca region countryside. I photographed this simple table display back in 2008. Sure wish I was Oaxaca today. I miss Mexico with all my heart!

One of the purest presentations for the Day of the Dead comes from the penitente church of Atotonilco, outside of San Miguel de Allende, back in 2006. Another trip I will treasure.

I wish everyone a wonderful Day of the Dead celebration, especially my best altarista pals—Kathy Pinkerton in Mexico City and Rebecca Brooks in San Miguel de Allende. You lucky ladies!!!!
