Not your typical day at the beach. Laurie Zuckerman just visited the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles and found this startling somber memorial to the soldiers in Iraq. Flag-draped coffins, soldiers boots and endless wooden crosses dotted the beach along the northside of the pier. The red crosses were especially effective against the sand and the sad gray sky.
