Laurie Beth Zuckerman's photo of the Viejo San Acacio Mission, Colorado |
Laurie Beth Zuckerman photographed a touching image of the Madonna and Child in the window of the old church in San Acacio, is the oldest adobe mission church in Southern Colorado, built in the early 1860s. It appears that each of the religious window designs was a gift from members of the church community. Inside the church has been well-restored and contains a beautiful statue of the Madonna and Child. The reredo altar screen was painted by New Mexican artist, Marie Romero Cash. It is in the style of the reredos seen in so many of the famous mission churches in Northern New Mexico. To read more about Marie Romero Cash, click on this website:

This is such a privilege to be able to see firstly your beautiful photographs and secondly such unusual (for me) images of the Madonna. Thank you for sharing!
Such great photography of Marys windows. That sounds like an interesting church.

and everyone is always so different.. and yet the message the same..
The window photograph is positively magical♥♥♥
precious memories...etched in time and the hearts of the congregation.
O thank you for this deliciously dark Madonna!
Affectionate Madonna
This is so beautiful. It's just magical. Thanks so much.
I just love the posts where a story is told and I can be linked to finding out more. Beautiful place in So Co.
Really lovely! Love the altar screen.
It's funny how we are drawn to certain things we may have missed. I read your post yesterday, but today the first virgin, in browns and blues, really made my heart leap. What kind of camera do you use?
Thanks to all of you who have enjoyed and commented on my posts. What a great audience!!
For Fran, I use a Nikon digital and a Canon SLR digital camera for my work. I shoot at high-resolution for almost everything. Color and other details are improved in Adobe Photoshop. Plus I take a million pictures and just post the best,
I bow down in awe and wonder before this representation of Mary. O holy, holy, holy!
My Lady Comfort
